Recently, I was appointed as the Cinema Inspirations resource manager for the IATEFL Global Issues special interest group (SIG). As many of you can imagine, I am overwhelmed with joy to be a part of this SIG as my research interests are related to global issues and social responsibility!
So, what is Cinema Inspirations? Cinema Inspirations is a resource that the Global Issues SIG started building in 2014. It is a collection of films and documentaries that focus on global issues under the themes of climate change, war and conflict, food, development and international aid, education, and health. If you were to click the link, you will see that this resource hasn’t been developed for quite some time. My job for the Global Issues SIG is to continue to expand this project further.
I am writing this blog as a call for lesson plans, reviews, and suggestions for Cinema Inspirations. My hope is to collate a resource that teachers can use to incorporate global issues topics into their classrooms through film and documentaries. I am writing this with the idea that teachers have materials and lesson plans around global issues already created OR they would like to create these kinds of resources.
If you are interested in participating, please send me an e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org. These materials will be distributed via IATEFL’s GISIG website and will be 100% credited to you. It is a great opportunity for CV building, professional developing, and networking!
Thank you so much!
