Hello! My name is James. I am a 24 year old MA student at Portland State University studying Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) and Applied Linguistics. I am a loud, tall, energetic, excitable educator who is committed to social justice, passionate about music, and loves social media a little bit too much. Currently, I teach English at the Universität Trier in Trier, Germany.
This is a blog dedicated to my research interests. As an English language educator, I am interested in emotion and affect in language learning and teaching, critical and feminist pedagogies in TESOL, social justice for marginalized groups, social identity and how it is constructed in learning and teaching, global Englishes, and critical English for academic purposes. Currently, I am writing my thesis on gender identity and the role it plays in foreign language anxiety, motivation, and self-confidence.
